I use a 20" iMac at home, and have previously used JBL speakers, most recently the Creature Speakers. The Duet 200s are perfect for my desk, and though they're obviously not as powerful or have as wide a range as the Creatures, they're compact and give out a surprisingly loud sound for their size. The sound quality is great, with bass coming through clearly considering the tiny dimensions. There's no inbuilt bass/treble modification, but as with most JBL products, they're great from the start. I've only used it for 30 mins, but Rock/Metal seems to be suited to these speakers the best. It's easy to move around, and though there's no internal battery, it's not much hassle moving it to the kitchen using my iPod when I'm doing the washing up! The lack of iPod Dock is no real problem, as I may be getting an Android phone which could also connect via the 3.5mm headphone jack. Though it would be nice to connect my iPod directly, the version with the dock was certainly out of my price range. For £35, it's a perfect speaker for a laptop or all in one like the iMac. Great as a second speaker set, or for those on a budget.
