This game has a great story and amazing visuals. The gameplay is fun but not outstanding although I'd definitely recommend it.

It's been a while since the Xbox had a solid platformer, one that was colourful, fun and, more importantly, intelligent. The PS3 has Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted. And we have.... well not much, let's be honest. So here we have Ninja Theory's latest effort (you may remember their PS3 hit Heavenly Sword). Joined by Alex Garland (28 Days Later) on writing duties and Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings, King Kong, and soon Tintin) on fine acting form, it has a lot of promise. After a colourful start, frantically escaping a crashing slave ship, the game flourishes, making full use of both the horizontal and vertical in a style reminiscent of the Prince of Persia series. The main characters, Monkey and Trip, are bonded together by their situation, and by more, nonconventional ways, shall we say. This partnership gives the player a solid set up to try and survive, and unravel the story of Monkey and Trip.The friction between them in the early stages of the game leads to fantastic back and forth banter throughout the game's script, and truly builds on the fantastic character design to give the players a pair of characters they will feel very attached to. The combat of the game is very much balanced towards knowing how much you can take on, and not just wading in, weapon swinging. Those of us that have played God of War, or on Xbox, Darksiders, will feel right at home with the combos, but the system is a lot simpler and refined, meaning that choosing your combos carefully will end fights a lot quicker. Monkey is certainly the muscle in the game but Trip provides many of the tricks you need to survive, including creating distractions for you, and mapping out the levels ahead of your with the help of all her technological gadgets. Overall, the feel of the game is comfortable, without being truly ground breaking, and weighing in at 12 hours plus gameplay, players will certainly be happy to spend a lot of time with Monkey and Trip in their post apocalyptic world.
