I've given a 3-star rating because of the absolutely magnificent cameo by the lady of senior years; Catherine Tate beware! Paul Bettany who never gives anything less than an enthralling performance - usually - seems a bit lost in this not-quite-as-good-or-as-much-fun-as-TV's-"Supernatural" malarkey. The supporting cast, including Denis Quaid and Charles S. Dutton (like the star himself) needed to be in a production with a bit more gravitas as, I felt their very earnest and, on the whole good quite performances, felt somewhat wasted on what is, in the end, a supernatural B-movie based on ideas and themes that have been executed with far more aplomb in previous film and TV productions. (However, they all had a blast making the film according to the DVD extras...bless.) That said, I am now truly terrified - at the prospect of Mr Bettany's next foray into the genre - next year's "Priest"!
