Series 9 has some of the problems series 8 also had, but picks up pace towards the finale. As in the preceding series, almost all events are triggered from outside, i.e. the characters have very little background story to them to grow more complex over time. With the exception of Lucas North, who undergoes a very startling development in the course of the whole series, the others remain rather pale, which is a bit of a shame really.

Spooks Series 9 is a great series in the tense long running BBC drama. Will be sorry to see it end when it concludes after series 10. It is a shining late on the BBC and an original drama that is rarely seen on TV these days amidst the droll of dull reality TV.
