I never had the chance in the 70's/80's to watch the BBC as my parents were avid TWW/HTV watchers! So, 30 years on and I'm watch this for the first time!! I've managed to watch 3 episodes of the first disc and believe me it's worth every penny of my purchase! You would be a fool not to have this in your collection!

If you are considering buying this boxset the chances are you are familiar with Barker's most famous sitcoms; Porridge and Open All Hours. Let's be honest, they are repeated constantly on various satellite channels. Don't let that put you off. The real gems in this box set are the rarer ones. Porridge spin-off Going Straight and Barker's final role Clarence only ran for one series each but that doesn't indicate a lack of quality. The untimely death of co-star Richard Beckinsale put an end to Going Straight and Barker's retirement in 1987 meant Clarence never saw a second series. Both showcase Barkers talents and prove he was one of Britains best actors as well as the funniest. Seven of One and the Magnificent Evans complete the collection and, while the latter is not classic Barker, it has its moments. If you are a fan of Ronnie Barker, or just of British comedy from a more innocent time, this collection is an essential purchase.

This is a great collection of the brilliant Ronnie Barker. I'm still laughing at Open all Hours and Porridge. The quality is excellent and the set arrived in great condition for going halfway round the world.
