A Bug's Life is supposed to be based on a film from the 50s, "The Seven Samurai". I neither knew nor cared about this when I watched it for the first time, in the cinema as a 6 year old boy. What I do remember thinking, is how brilliant I thought the film was. It has romance, adventure, comedy; everything you value in a film whether you're 6 or 60. A modern classic, I would highly recommend this film to all ages.
The bluray edition of A bug's life is another great one in the line of others from Disney/Pixar. Picture and sound quality are amazing. This was Pixar's second movie (after Toy story), so the animation is a bit old-looking, but it's still great. There are some extras including ones made especially for the bluray. In the plethora of amazing Pixar movies, A bug's life often gets forgotten nowadays, quite unfairly, in my opinion. It has great characters and an even greater story. Other Pixar movies have deeper morality aspects of their stories too, but this one has possibly the deepest and most profound. Children will enjoy the movie but adults will appreciate its moral message. This is a story about individuality and ideas in a world where hive-mind-like thinking is expected from all. Get this movie!
The Blu-ray arrived quickly and it is a really good film that I have looked forward to seeing again.
I loved this film the first time round in DVD but now with Blu-ray its even better! Great one liners - great storyline and great Pixar animation. Don't miss this great film out now on Blu-ray.
A Bug's Life is absolutely brilliant, and has made an excellent transfer to Blu-ray. There are some great special features, and lots of behind the scenes footage. I'm very happy with this purchase.
