The DVD is part documentary, part concert. Watching it makes me think how sorely mankind needs divine intervention, bc our problems run so deep, and try as we might we seem to use our differences to our detriment, instead of to our betterment.
Africa United was a really funny film, keeps you interested from the beginning. Although I was laughing in bits it does raise more serious issues aswell. I would definately recommend this.
Africa United tells the story of three Rwandan children on their journey across africa to get the see the World Cup and take part in the opening ceremony. On the way they over come many trials, most notably being taking ot a refugee camp and then make there way to the world cup stadium. The film is undoubtedly feel good and provides an often missed indight into Africa. Possibly a little too squeaky clean in it's message of positivity at times, it is still a heart warming and very enjoyable film.
Engaging, smartly paced comedy adventure with strong performances and a decent script, but its tightrope-walking approach to a succession of issues doesn't quite work and the film ultimately topples into the sentimentality it's been trying to avoid.
This is a great film. I saw it at the cinema with my kids and can't wait to get it on DVD, so if you missed it then definitely order it. Some fabulous performances from the kids, with brilliant one-liners and a great road trip story. It doesn't shy away from some of the issues that Africa faces, but it's great that you also get to see the positive side of such a beautiful continent with some fabulous people. Whether you've watching it with your kids or looking for a movie for a good night in then you can't go wrong with this film.
