The Second Season of the Twilight Zone was shot after James Thomas Aubrey, Jr. was appointed President of the CBS Television Network following the famous Quiz Show Scandal. Aubrey was a natural-born bean counter, and he dramatically improved profitability and ratings at CBS. However he immediately collided with some of the most creative actors, writers and producers in the CBS stable, including Rod Sterling who would write or co-write 92 of the 156 episodes. The Twilight Zone was an expensive show to make, so Aubrey demanded budget cutback. The number of episodes in this Second Season were cut back, and reproduction quality affected because Aubrey's penny-pinching demanded that videotape instead of film stock should be used for some of the episodes. However Season Two boasted of a new Theme Tune, written by composer Marius Constant, which would become synonymous with the show. And a new introductory sequence replaced the Season One pilot. Rod Sterling was still omnipresent, and it's obvious despite the cuts. Now, sit back in your armchair and prepare to return to the Sixties to be entertained by a show reaching towards its zenith.
