Having previously come across some negative and positive reviews of Need For Speed The Run I was dubious. Nevertheless I went ahead and purchased it, as I also had a similar title for my Wii. I cannot compare it to the same title for other platforms though but with regards to racing games on the 3DS it does hold itself close to the top. I had previously played Asphalt, Ridge Racer, F1 2011, Sonic Unleashed and Mario Kart and compared to these it's a different game but in some ways it's a better game. There are no power-ups, or mushrooms, though my knowledge isn't that great when it comes to these games, I just play for fun. It's pretty easy to just go through the game, unlock vehicles and customisations. These can later be applied when you just want to race separately, I haven't tried online play yet. The handling of the vehicles is good, you can play as a normal joe or as a cop, if you're not playing the main part of the game. Overall if you want a fun racing game which has a nice, and not overpowering, 3D effect, then this could be the one for you. Try it, you might like it.
Need For Speed The Run is not the best game I've ever played on handhelds, but it's not as bad as you read on the internet. The graphics are better then I thought. The menu is not as good as it should be, which is a little annoying for me. The point is, it's worth the money. I think it's the best car game on the 3DS right now.
