Performs excellently and fully lives up to the reviews. Light and comfortable to wear. Surround sound is very good. The controls are very accessible and work well. Having a spare battery charged and always ready is a bonus. Battery life is extremely good - I've had about 10hrs use and there is still charge in the battery according to the on-screen meter. It took a while to mate the headset with the xbox controller. The issue is addressed on Madcatz's website. Following their advice I switched to a different controller and the problem was solved. Overall, I'm really pleased with the performance.
I was initially impressed with the Microsoft Licensed Warhead 7.1 Wireless Headset Tritton. They feel good and sound great albeit a little on the booming side. The bass wasn't particularly targeted and generally sounded too bottom heavy. Generally though, I was happy with the sound compared to others I've had. Unfortunately, my headset would not sync with the console so I could hear sound and game chat, but not use wireless chat for comms. A shame really because I was really looking forward to the wireless chat.
I've been using Turtle Beach headphones for years now and this new Microsoft Licensed Warhead 7.1 Wireless Tritton Headset blows them out of the water. These are expensive but if you're a gadget freak like me then you don't mind spending a few quid on something you'll use all the time and they are totally worth it. It's so nice to not have to worry about pulling out that chat cable every time you're killed while playing, or when reaching for a drink. Or having to take your controller with you when you visit the fridge or maybe even the WC. The sound quality is great. It has 3 EQ settings, one for Music, Gaming and Movies. 7.1 surround sound too, which sounds great when playing Call of Duty or Battlefield 3. My only concern would be the Wireless signal. By this I mean while you're watching a movie or playing a game you may have to leave the room and you will lose in game/movie sound. Theses are not radio frequency headphones, they have a range of about 10m but cut that in half if you travel from room to room. This should not be the case for voice chat. So you will still hear if anyone is talking about you no matter where you go in the house. I have to say one of my favourite features is the dual rechargeable battery packs. In the past I would have a battery charger sitting next to me just in case my headset ran out of juice, now I don't need to worry. Hit the Xbox button and you can see how much power is left. Once it runs out simply swap with the other pack you have in the basestation. Hope you enjoy as much as I am should you choose this gaming option.
