Boardwalk Empire - Season 1 has an excellent story line, combining fact and fiction. It has a fine cast and fine performances.

Back in the day, the US decided to create a goldmine for the organized crime. Prohibition. This show follows the absurdity of it all. The violence and the corruption that followed. When politicians and criminals were hard to tell apart. Steve Buscemi is superb as a two-faced politician/mobster who rules Atlantic City. The look of 1920s is as authentic as it gets. Looking forward to season 2. For anyone who loved The Sopranos, this is a must.
