Definitely worth a look

If you can ignore all the bad publicity surrounding this film, it's actually a great adventure and a lot of fun. It's a shame that everything that happened around it during and after it's release tarnished its reputation so much that a sequel is not being considered. I would have enjoyed another adventure on Barsoom! The 3D adds greatly to it, and there's lots of special features to enjoy too. For the right price, it's a worthy addition to the collection.

A right rollicking adventure!!!

John Carter hasn't received the attention it deserves, and with that title perhaps it's no surprise, given that it sounds more like a sequel to a Michael Caine spy thriller, but... This is a movie In the great tradition of Indie Jones, Star Wars, Flash Gordon, etc. and Disney has created some top notch entertainment here: stunning visuals, witty dialog, loads of action...simply great fun Good enough that I rebought it in 3D...get it, you wont be disappointed

Not a bad film

John Carter is an unusual film which starts in the American civil war from which John Carter is hurled to Mars which like in the old Flash Gordon is inhabited. So we go from the American Civil War to a futuristic Sci Fi. There is quite a storyline to this film which has considerable action and some romance. The more I watch it the more I like it. This Disney film sort of grows on you. The Blu Ray transfer is quite good and the multi channel sound is good. The 3D however is disappointing with nothing not even a sword point comes beyond the TV screen. There is good depth to the 3D but NO and I mean No pop out effects, I watch it in 2D. Other than that the film is quite good.

I personally don't get why John Carter 3D has had such bad reviews. I admit I like Sci-Fi movies/TV shows and this is probably why I liked this movie, but I really did like this movie. It has action, humour and has a good story line. The acting could be improved by one or two of the main actors but overall, I really enjoyed it.

John Carter has had its share of bad reviews. Mine is not one of them. I really enjoyed this movie, it's a cross between a western and sci-fi movie, along the same line as Cowboys and Aliens, but less western. It's based on 11 volumes of novels released in the 1910s-40's. It's got really great action scenes. It's been advertised as the new Star Wars, and yes you could state that. The Blu-Ray transfer is the best you could hope for, not a single area can be faulted on either 2D or 3D.
