AWESOME!

Dark Souls is a fantastic game that I can't put down! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a hardcore RPG.

Awesome

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

A new experience for action RPG lovers and hardcore players. Game is hard and this new version says it all; 'Prepare to Die' and 'yes, you'll die!' Players who love 'piece of cake' games should be aware, 'cause even in tutorial mode, you'll die a lot! Mechanics are awesome and responsiveness, but timing is everything, and takes time to get it.

Dark Souls PTDE

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

This game is anything but a grindfest, look on youtube and the like, you can see people playing 'challenge' runs with low level toons and low gear. This game is something of a gem, many will bypass it and having now put almost 500 hours into it I think I can speak about it. I managed to convince friends to purchase and they too are loving the game, think Skyrim but with a clever combat system. Yes the game is hard, it punishes you for your mistakes, run in and hack and slash. Even the most simple enemy can kill you. This means your actions have consequence, this goes from start to finish. Yes you can 'grind' but play naturally and you will be comfortable throughout. The game is better with gear as opposed to gaining levels, although they never hurt. The game has a great PVP side. Invading peoples worlds and even being invaded makes you dread what could be around the corner. Pair it with the insane bosses and some of the most spectacularly designed bosses and levels, you're onto a real winner. Prepare to Die edition - includes the Artorias of the Abyss DLC which adds another 15ish hours to the game and opens up some nice locations and items to visit. Play the game with an open mind, you WILL die, but that is how you learn. Once you master certain techniques and area's you will be amazed at how good the game is. It's so very satisfying to take down a boss or clear an area with no help after struggling. There's plenty of help online too.

Grind to advance

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

I've seen this game praised because of its difficulty, the fact that it doesn't explain its rules and mechanics but punish you for not knowing them. I was curious and bought it. Graphics are decent, but definitely not good, and the same with character and enemy animation. Sound is worse. The graphics reminds me of, Dragon Knight Saga's. Darksouls's are somewhat better, but not much. And the story is very interesting and deep, but the gameplay gets in its way because right after the tutorial you are forced to grind once again, sometimes half a dozen enemies, to collect enough souls to improve and keep advancing. I'll keep playing it, of course.
