Spartacus is an amazing show. It doesn't just focus on gladiators and violence/gore either, there are plenty of Roman politics, great dialogue and writing. However I have to rate the set 4/5 because while Blood & Sand, Gods of the Arena and Vengeance all come with excellent bonus features such as audio commentaries on various episodes, making of videos, videos on "gladiator boot camp", etc, War of the Damned is completely barebones - just the episodes. Apparently in the UK they wanted to release it as soon as possible. Quite disappointing as the later US release has audio commentaries and a bunch of features on their set. If you have a region free player definitely try and get a separate release of War of the Damed.

If you're a fan of the 300 movies this show is a must buy for you. Brilliantly choreographed action, twisting plots, charasmatic characters and a finale that will have you on the edge of your seat as Spartacus faces the might of Rome - this is an excellent piece of genre TV from start to epic finish! Mainly shot against green screen the feel and the script invokes much of a stage set ambiance to the show but for me that only adds to it. Be warned though, this definitely isn't family viewing by any description but if you have no problem with gore and the amount of flesh on show then you are in for an addictive treat!

I have bought this box set for my dad for Christmas and I am very pleased with the product. Reasonably priced and well packaged.

A fantastic re-enactment of a great classic story. The original film was/is an epic and this collection is similarly massive. With some excellent acting and superb production, every episode makes for compelling viewing. The clarity of the video and sound is simply extraordinary thanks to the Blu Ray format. In summary, this is an amazing collection for an equally amazing value price.

I love this series, it's full of non stop action and the fighting sequences are spectacular and breath taking. The sets are great and the acting and story gripping from start to finish. A must buy for all action fans.
