I don't know what casual viewers made of this anniversary episode, but for fans, it was a real feast. Three doctors (one a complete surprise), the return of a companion in an unexpected shape, the return of an updated enemy... Matt Smith and David Tennant having obvious fun... and a story that changes the status quo of the character. What more could one wish for?
