Like 'Birth of a Nation' this film can be viewed on two levels; either as an anachronistic and politically incorrect fossil or as an important milestone in the creation of modern epic cinema. If you're inclined to the former view avoid this film (and 'Birth...') and spend you money on something else, but if interested in the history of cinema this is a vital addition to your collection but be aware that viewing this requires work on your part.
