Steelbook Review Only

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

No question this film is a stone cold classic. An engaging biopic that manages to keep the pace and tone of a thriller. However, this review is for the steelbook only which is incredibly disappointing. Definitely a steel that looks worse in the flesh. Colours are incredibly washed out, not as vivid as the picture suggests. Gloss detailing isn't everything, but the matte finish here causes the picture to look flat and lifeless.

Great film, average steelbook

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed the Imitation Game, although it is a work of fiction and historical accuracy isn't a strong point of the film. The colour palette seems a little odd, you might argue it's been affected by the current fashion for teal and orange or perhaps it was a deliberate attempt to create a 40's wartime feel to the film. The steelbook isn't great; there's no embossing/debossing - although you could argue it isn't needed. The image quality and finish are unremarkable. If you must have a steelbook of this movie then it's an obvious buy, if you can live without the steelbook the regular blu ray is a better choice in my opinion.

Cumberbadass Performance!

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

A first class performance. Not only from Cumberbatch but a talented cast consisting of Charles Dance, Mark Strong and Matthew William Goode. Cumberbatch succeeds not only showing the brilliance of Alan Turing but his vulnerable side as he grappled with solving Enigma and his secret homosexuality. A terrific Cumberbatch performance, vastly different from being wicked Khan in Star Trek into Darkness. A must watch for all history buffs!

A story that has two sides...

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

This is definitely a top notch film no doubt. The steelbook is as it should be no doubt. The two sides of this story are how quickly you may give your all & praised for it. & when they are done with you it's a long way down, the dead fall that is. He was a brilliant mind (with his flaws no doubt. But with saying that always the secret services are afraid that enemies may take advantage of some weaknesses & obviously loose LIPS SINK SHIP'S). That being a common term used during WW2. B.C. Proves once again that He is a great actor without a doubt. The cast also is amazing with great Brit Actors all around. One for the collection indeed arrived in tip top shape!.

Superb

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Firstly a great steelbook case with good images on it. Secondly and more importantly the film is superb. A great story with I think is a heart breaking end. But what a story and one I could watch over and over. I'd recommend it.

Lacluster

1 stars out of a maximum of 5

This steelbook could have been something really nice, but instead it's rather lackluster. There's no finish or embossing/debossing, which doesn't help bring out the image, but the biggest problem is that the image itself is different from the promotional art. The image the steelbook is a zoomed in version, which messes with the framing of the image, moving the overhanging light off the cover completely and is now on top of the case. It's a small change, but it really throws off the composition and it just all look a little lost. Recommended for buying when the price drops, but not for full price.

Great film, disappointing steelbook

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

The film reviews did not lie, this one is just brilliant. All the praise is well deserved. However, the steelbook was a big disappointment. For a start, the final product is a bit different from the photo. Cover picture has been enlarged for some reason, thus cutting off top of the photo (with the light) and making overall quality really grainy and blurry. Not much of extra features included, no interviews with cast (as it was included in Sainsbury's DVD edition) or deleted scenes (available on iTunes). There is no embossing/debossing at all, and it's in matte finish. Overall, great film but true letdown for the steelbook edition.

Cumbersausage was robbed!

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

(SPOILER ALERT) Why he didn't get an award for his performance is beyond me (but I guess who is going to vote against Stephen Hawkins?). Good old Benny Cumbersausage pulls all the stops out for this film though. I vaguely knew the history behind the man so it wasn't a total surprise. What WAS a surprise for me was the sheer beauty of the relationships between all the characters from the very start. Especially 'Christopher' who became a euphemism for all that Alan Turing longed for. I will admit to shedding a tear at the cinema right at the very end in his room confessing his love/saying goodbye to Christopher. The fact that he called the computer Christopher was the added 'feels'. The man was an utter genius and credited (amongst others) with creating what we now call the computer and the government should be utterly ashamed of how they treated Turing, considering how many lives his computation machine & cracking of the Enigma machine saved. You will not be disappointed in purchasing this film and I, for one, cannot wait to get my hands on my steelbook.

The Imitation Game

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Awsome, we could say perfect drama with some humour! The best movie of 2015 with amazing performances from (almost) the all cast! :) The packing and dlivery date was acceptable, good as always. This was my second order, but I am still satisfied with Zavvi! :)
