This is the best film I've seen yet in 2015. Had to own it on blu ray, and a nice steelbook makes it better! A-rated and a must have
I purchased this steel book because I wanted a special copy of a special film. I saw this film in London at the London Film Festival and I was blown away both by the film and the performance of the cast especially Mr Cumberbatch as Alan Turing. I knew little of Turing before the film and left the cinema upset and blazing mad at the treatment this man, this genius, this war hero received at the very hands of the people his genius helped save. I also wanted to head straight back in and watch it again. I had to wait for general release before I could go and see it again. Which I did, twice. This is the first film I have seen in a long time that had the whole audience laughing, clapping and crying. It is a brilliant script full of humour as well as drama and tragedy. Things have been altered in the film as is always the case in these sort of projects. Events condensed facts simplified to make sense and points added for dramatic impact. But overall a lovely tribute to a man who could have given the world so much more if they had only been able to see past his differences. Everyone should give this film a watch. Then research more about Alan Turing and his story as well as the work carried out at Bletchley. The Steel book is nice but not outstanding, pretty basic and lacks the wow factor. Pity Studio Canal only relesed the deleted scenes on the itunes copy though. But there are only two of them so I can live without them. So film excellent. Steelbook could do better.
A very witty, well filmed, clever semi-docudrama giving a insight into what actually happened in the war. Touching and very well made, thoroughly enjoyed it!
It was a very good movie and interesting to see what went into the breaking of the German Enigma machine. Also a bit of an eye opener about how far the UK has come with regard to gay rights in a little over 2 generations - some younger people might want to see this to see what being gay used to be like not that long ago

Went to watch this in the cinema, was left surprised at how good this movie really was. I love my war films, this was different to the normal sort of war films I like, but Benedict was brilliant as was keira. If there is a film to watch that will expand your knowledge of the war, this is it, it will have you riveted it should be a must watch for anyone one of the best films of 2014 easily.
