I watched this film as a bit of a time-killer, expecting nothing more than a different take on Grimm stories, with no idea on the background. I didn't realise this was a complete musical, and by the end of the first song (around 15 minutes), I was convinced that I would love the entirety of it. James Corden really stood out for me, personally, though Anna Kendrick and Meryl Streep were outstanding (not to mention all the others). Stephen Sondheim is a musical genius (including Sweeney Todd), and missing this would be a crime.
