I saw this movie at the cinema before I decided to buy it. I also saw a couple of other sci-fi films including "Intersteller" and "Ex Machina". There is something to recommend about all these films just as I found there to be problems of credibility in each of them too. "Chappie" was just a little corny sometimes, but then, what did I seriously expect? Anyway, this is an ok film. Its generally fun to look at and the violence is not too gruesome or gratuitious by comparison with many other films. With themes of love, friendship and trust thrown in, Chappie and maybe some of his not always very pleasant human companions will warm your heart by the end. But there is nothing terribly profound about the film... its just plain old entertainment and it does it reasonably well, I suppose. A good film to see when there are no strong standouts.
