After escaping the Maze in the first movie, Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and the rest of the Gladers think they have been saved only to realise that it's all a lie and their saviours are really part of the secret organisation WCKD. The Gladers escape and cross 'the Scorch' in search of the resistance group called 'The Right Hand'. This movie reminds me of a junior 'Mad Max' with its apocalyptic settings and good versus evil scenario. There's even zombies that chase the group from the moment they escape. My only criticism is that the production team saved a ton of money on the lighting bill as most of the movie is shot either in complete darkness or 'mood' lighting. This fact makes me think the director (Wes Ball) may have had shares in Duracell or another such company that produces torch batteries. On the whole, this movie is better than its predecessor 'The Maze Runner' but please, make this the last one.
