Five men board a train, and are joined by mysterious fortune teller Dr. Schreck (the always reliable Peter Cushing) who proceeds to read the fortunes of Donald Sutherland, Christopher Lee, Alan Freeman (yup, the DJ), Roy Castle and Neil McCallum in five short tales. This was the first anthology from Amicus, a rival to Hammer Films (though they shared actors and directors) and has an eclectic supporting cast that also includes Bernard Lee (forever M to Connery’s James Bond), Kenny Lynch and the Tubby Hayes Quintet. The terrors may be mild by today's standards but this still has enough twists and turns to keep you engaged from first to (chilling) last. Engaging screenplay by Milton Subotsky who also produced with Max J Rosenberg. The reliable Freddie Francis directs and keeps the tales moving briskly over a little over 90 minutes. Don't expect too many horrors though; an "X" certificate in the mid-Sixties is just a PG now. Film is beautifully presented on this Blu-ray and best of all this version, issued by Screenbound, solves issues which apparently existed on previous releases.

Excellent service from Zavvi, quick safe delivery and the film is wonderful, one of my favourites from the 1970's. Great stuff!
