This is one of the great movies from the Arrowfilms collection, in my opinion an underrated gem from the 1990's from the directors-duo Siegel and McGehee. It is an original take on a film noir with an experimental approach and Lynchian undertones, but you don't have to be an ArtHouse-movie buff to appreciate this thoroughly enjoyable film. The performances are outstanding and the black-and- white widescreen cinematography is simply gorgeous, and is better rendered than ever on this digital remastered version. The juxtaposition of popular and classical music with the eery imagery is a stroke of genius. People who love Lynch or Cronenberg will certainly love this movie as well. This outstanding dual-format release comes also with a very insightful booklet.
