The moment I saw the super laser being lowered into the Death Star I thought to myself "this is the best movie ever" Seeing as Star Wars: A New Hope is basically the best movie of all time, so if Rogue One is better that A New Hope that makes it the new "Best movie of all time. When I watched Rogue One (Twice) in the cinema I felt serenely gratified in how it fitted in along side the main 9 part Saga about the Skywalker family. I know lots of fan were miffed by the lack of crawl like the ones that proceed the 7 current saga films but there was no need for one. I'll explain. When I got this 3 disc Steelbook edition I wasn't going to watch it until I had time to watch A New Hope directly afterwards. When I did get the time I had 2 Blu-ray players set up so I could just switch from Rogue One to A New Hope as soon as Princess Leia said "Hope" before the end credits to R.O. What I chose to do was watch the crawl at the start of A New Hope till it was completely gone and then watched R.O. I was reminded that the opening paragraph of the crawl to A.N.H basically tells the viewer all they need to know about whats happening in Rogue One. The whole film is that paragraph, so there was no reason for a crawl at the head of Rogue One. You could argue that people unfamiliar with Star War might need a Crawl but as it's a stand alone film and just a side story to the main saga. In my opinion it doesn't need one. Regards the Steelbook. I have to say I am slightly disappointed. The temporary image used for the pre-sale of this edition was what I hoped would be the final artwork. I suppose the decided to design one that fit with the Other Saga Steelbooks. At least the film is still awesome and I have to recomend watching A New Hope directly after Rogue One so that you get the whole story seeing as there is no gap in the Star Wars timeline between both films. Enjoy
Everything I'd hoped for..! The comparable BestBuy version has four disks whereas this 'only' has three so not sure what is absent but plenty to keep one grinning to next/this Christmas in te way of Extras!
Really beautiful cover, love the Stormtroopers on the back. Wicked film too. Pew pew pew.
This steelbook has been getting a lot of grief on the various forums, but personally I like it. Ok it's not going to win any awards, but it is better than I originally thought. Title on the front and spine helps, and it's much better than the Force Awakens. Only 4 stars as the artwork is a bit bland, far better options surely, but it's not a disaster by any means. As for the movie, well it's one of the best released in the last few years, better than the Force Awakens, and the best Star Wars since Empire, though not as good as that obviously. Stands up to repeated viewing. I haven't checked the 3D yet, but it's nice to have that option. The extras disc has over an hour of behind the scenes. Would have like a commentary, and deleted scenes, but overall a very good package.
Amazing film - high up in the best of the 'series'. Nicely fills the gap between eps III and IV to a satisfying conclusion whilst still retaining that feel of A New Hope. Also amazing how they use graphics for certain characters (which I won't mention in case of spoilers). Refreshing end to a film as well. Nice steelbook case too.
Rogue one is like the title says it's a Star Wars story about how they stole the plans for the Death Star alluded to in episode four so if you want to see how did it by this film and enjoy .
Nice looking steel, lovely design. Awesome Star Wars stand alone film too.
Steelbook case is beautiful, little bit of embossing on the front with the title and subtle sparkly bits on the rest of the case. Movie disc is just that with no extras, same with the 3D disc. Seperate DVD contains 11 mini-stories giving an insight into the characters and filming of Rogue One. Combined, all stories run for about an hour. Would've liked to see some deleted scenes and perhaps a segment on how the story changed during filming. Of the two recent Star Wars movies I think Rogue One is my favourite for a few reasons such as: the nostalgia factor, the way it ties in nicely to Episode IV, it's originality, the use of deleted footage from Episode IV and finally, it's originality. If future Star Wars movies are as good as this one, the franchise will be looking very good.
Arrived before launch, awesome case and amazing picture quality!
Excellent release, bolstered by the bonus disc, but...once again, UK buyers suffer the loss of a free digital download. These are multi-regional discs, so why not multi-regional perks as well?
