Making a 150+ budget sequel to a revered cult classic like the original Blade Runner is a risky bet....and one that was ultimately lost since this feature proved to be a BIG box office failure.Despite that, it stands as a worthy follow up and an incredibly well told story on it's own with amazing set pieces that create a rich atmosphere.Vileneuve's direction along with Deakin's cinematography is a sight to behold as the film sucks you in with it's wonderful environments that manage to seem realistic in spite of their futuristic vibe. The acting is also suberb across the board with a relateable protagonist and interesting and meaningful subplots. The soundtrack, while not as touching or as memorable as Vangelis's score for the original is still an excellent sum of electronic synths that accompany the movie well.Overall, Blade Runner 2049 is one of the best sci-fi films of recent years and it is guaranteed to entertain and more importantly even mesmerize you wheter you are a fan of the 1982 masterpiece or not. This limited edition with its slipcover design and beautiflu art cards is a welcome bonus to this already extraordinary package.
