Disappointed by cheapness & flimsiness of video box, very low quality, & easily damaged. Which is a shame as the Retro style box valid idea badly implementation of it. As it will not protect blu ray disc at all. As for the blu ray that in itself is excellent, but would advice ppl to stick to traditional blu ray boxes, as Retro style have no sturdy news to them.

I first saw this film in the Cinema back when it was first released, and was blown away. This Blu Ray, does this classic movie, great service with the quality of the picture and sound, Joan Baez singing, compliments Bruce Derns character, in my humble opinion. This movie is a classic Sci fi film, with amazing special effects, considering when this film was made, it stands the test of time, and the story is as relevant to day as it was when the film was first shown in Cinemas. Actually it is more relevant with what is happening with climate change. The relationship between the 4 people on that ship, is like a lot society today, in regard to flora and fauna, when it is gone it is gone. The story and the conflict between 1 man and the other 3, comes over powerfully, I can understand it is just a film some might say, it is a film but with a valid story and message, sorry if this has gone on too long, it is an amazing film to watch.

Great movie that has a message that people should have took notice of at the time. George Lucas himself has admitted this film had influenced him on Star Wars ( along with many other movies ) you can thank this movie for R2 D2! Bruce Dern gives a great performance with great visual effects for the time ( TBH even better than some modern movies CGI ) This edition comes in a great retro case reproducing the cardboard art slipcase And a cardboard VHS cassette to keep the disc in.

Lovely retro style packaging, I hope that more are released like this. The film transfer could have been if a better quality, but as it is, it adds to the retro charm. It is a great film, with charm and a sense of unease.

This is a good example how to make a good movie with limited budget. The story and characters are the most important. The main plot is around ecology, which is even more important nowadays. The advantage of story is that decisions that main character had taken were hard and controversial. Nothing was obvious in situation that he had faced. There was no safe exit from it. He had to paid for what he has done. Fair, not idealistic look at ecology. The huge advantage of movie is scenography. Design of the ship, greenhouse-like domes is nice. Of course, not so good as in Space Odyssey 2001 for example, but still good and natural looking. That is why I like old sci-fi movies, from 70' and 80'. You can do a better locations with modern CGI, but almost never it will be looking natural. You know that is only a decoration, but it is real. You deal with it and don't pay attention to it during the watching. CGI almost always will lost quality with years after releasing. Also, movies from those years present a kind of 'low-fidelity' technology, everything is 'used', touched and degraded by time. Modern sci-fi is extremely futuristic: shining glass, flashing lights, touch screens everywhere. It is not industrial-like like it should be, I think. Acting of Bruce Dern is good for me. He was not exaggerated in being a idealistic eco-man. His character is aware of mistakes and consequences. As a bonus we have couple of lovely droids which add a bit of humor to the story.

Great film with a strong environmental message that as prevalent today as it was in 72/73. Bruce Dern is always a joy to watch and the effects still stand the test of time.

I was around when VHS tapes were a thing so having this nostalgic touch to a very good movie is definitely one to display on the shelf.
