Very disappointed. Dark scenes (even with HDR) are crushed, lots of picture noise and box states Dolby Atmod but only DTS Master available. Stick with blu-ray original.

I hadn't watched this in years but fancied a re-watch after watching the Spielberg documentary. The movie is looking better than ever in this 40th anniversary release as the original film negative was scanned and finished in native 4K with 10-bit HDR. The package is rounded off with a great selection of extras.

The 4k restoration is worth the money. Keeping some of the grain and not going overboard with the noise reduction, this is a classic movie from Spielberg that has been given the up grade it deserves. So many choices of versions from theatre release to directors cut. A great upgrade or if you’ve never purchased close encounters before this is the one you want.

All cuts of the film and all look fantastic.

Movie is great but this version comes in a box that states Dolby Atmos but it only has DTS X HD , don’t be misled, a bit of a let down.
