Great Fun!

Back in 1989 a little known director by the name of Tim Burton brought Batman to the big screen and set a new standard for blockbuster movies! Batman is not a masterpiece but it has a flawless ability to keep you captivated especially when scene-stealing Jack Nicholson (Joker) is on screen! Nicholson's performance is iconic, his over the top craziness adds a scary and humourous take to the film which plays off superbly with Michael Keaton's Batman. Keaton is great in the role, arguably the best Batman performance as he battles the role of night vigilante and daytime billionaire Bruce Wayne, he has an intense feel and attitude to the role not seen by the likes or Val Kilmer or George Clooney. The Direction of the film from Burton is excellent, the pace keeps it exciting and the look of Gotham City and overall look of the film is classic Burton! With a great supporting cast of Kim Basinger, Jack Palance, Robert Wuhl, Billy Dee Williams and Michael Gough it is easy to see why Batman has cemented itself in movie history and stands up as one of the best, albeit darkest, comic book adaptations of all time. Overall the film is great entertainment for older children and adults alike, visualy stunning with a great script, especially Jack Nicholson's lines! Acted beautifully from Keaton, Basinger and the underrated Robert Wuhl. Of course Jack Nicholson is the main event here and it can sometimes feel that the story is more focused on the Joker, but with a legend playing him them why not? See it, love it!
