Aliens come to Earth in this classic TV show. The Visitors claim to have come in peace but a few people begin to discover their motives are not as good as they claim. I found this as enjoyable now as when it first aired in the 80's. Some of the effects may seem dated but I enjoyed this more than the new version. well worth the purchase.
One of the most spectacular series of the 80's if ever. Absoloutely riveting to watch, V The Mini series is about aliens landing on earth. "We come in peace" they said, only to drain earth of all it's natural resources. When a suspicious group of humans realise what they are up to they form an alliance to fight the resistance led by Mike Donovan ( Marc Singer, The Beast ) Juliet Parrish (Faye Grant, Internal Affairs) and later in series Ham Tyler ( Michael Ironside, Starship Troopers) who vow to bring down the aliens. Unbelievable graphics and special effects for 80's TV, highly recommended.
From the first shots of the huge "Visitors" ship hovering over South America to the final scenes of a fledgling resistance movement, "V" the original mini series draws parallels with Nazi Germany to paint a picture of tension, fear and enslavement under the guise of friendship. They came with an offer we couldn't refuse and then took everything. For fans of the re-imagined "V" series, a nostalfia filled 3 hours of 80's TV at its best is an ideal companion to their viewing. For those that haven't seen it, it is an extra-ordinary story, rich in sub-texts at so many levels. And for those that used to sit at home on those barmy summer nights nearly 30 years ago, it is a trip down memory lane, an a TV series that can be enjoyed by all ages.
