I have to say I spotted a few clips of this series on Facebook and each segment persuaded me to order the series through Zavvi. The humour is centred on a lot of mix ups based on the interpretation of the English language. . The main character who plays the teacher of this adult English language class is a very mellow but likeable person who is constantly trying to encourage his students to improve their grasp of English. The stereo -typical rivalry and banter of each student based on their background and /or religious beliefs leads to some very amusing interactions and debates. Obviously it reflects a Britain of a few decades ago so political correctness was never foremost on the agenda at that time. However it has an innocence and hilarity that is hard to replicate in more modern soaps of today. A definite five stars for characterisation and variety of plot each episode.
I initially saw some clips of this series on Facebook and was pleasantly attracted to it by the array of strong, amusing, and (sometimes) controversial characters contained within. The main lead actor kept his composure very well when faced with some embarrassing scenarios in each class. Furthermore, his supercilious headteacher also fitted her role perfectly. Overall I found the series to be highly entertaining however I took one star away as it may have finished a little too abruptly! My general verdict: it was well worth the fee i paid.
