As Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World is ten years old I expect many people already have it on DVD and are wondering if it's worthwhile getting the Blu-ray. This is one of those films that really benefits from a Blu-ray treatment - the picture quality and sound are outstanding.
Master And Commander is a great film, can't believe its taken me this long to see this great film Really gave my 5.1 a real workout.
Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World is a great film!
Russel Crowe went from conquering the Colosseum to conquering the high seas. Its a slower movie than say Pirates of the Caribbean, but also much better. Its an intimate affair and there's great insights into life on board a ship in the 1800's. Many little details were included that brings you into their life. Peter Weir's movie is a great achievement. Blu Ray quality is top notch - great black levels created a chilling atmosphere in the nighttime scenes and the audio is probably the best you can find on blu ray today. The cannon shells and splinters fly around from all directions putting you right in the midst of the battle.
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is brilliant. Great story and excellent execution of historical naval warfare. Crowe and Bettany give unforgettable performances as friends and peers. Sound and picture on this Blu-ray disc are amazing, a real must hear and see to believe.
