This was an impulse buy, I'm not a big fan of the kind of comedies that Hollywood normally turns out, but with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman in the lead roles I decided this could be a film worth seeing. And overall, I'd say it is. The blurb promises a 'hilarious and deeply touching tale' and although that's overstating it, we did both chuckle now and again and it was touching at times. There's nothing very subtle about the direction - both the humour and the pathos are pretty much in-your-face - but that's what we were expecting and the quality of the acting helps carry the thing along. Nice idea too, the bucket list makes you think, especially if your youth is already a distant memory. What would you really, really regret not having done, if you were to kick the bucket tomorrow?
