Almost 40 years on, Terry Nation's post apocalyptic drama about a handful of survivors in the wake of a flu virus is still relevant. Sure there is criticism about the class system and some slow parts about self-sufficiency but this also highlights how society now flounders. There are some strong female roles, duplicitous characters and grizzly situations. Ground-breaking at the time, the first episode is still rivetting today. The picture quality on these DVDs is excellent. On 11 DVDs the episodes are not compressed and allowed to breathe. Also comes with a great Making Of doco filmed just a few years ago. Great value for a complete box set. Different to the remake series starring Julie Graham and Max Beesley, but just as enthralling.
