This is great fun. Sonic is still one of the best Sega characters. The use of the controller as a steering wheel intensifies the action.

I never played Sega games but this one is awesome, everyone can play it. Very nice to play with mates too.

Id been contemplating purchasing this game for quite a while, so given the excellent price on Zavvi I decided to finally give it a try. The game is a standard kart racer and borrows from all the best, most notably Mario Kart, but dont let this put you off because it borrows all the very best bits and builds it into a great little game. The power ups are pretty much the standard stuff youd expect and theres a simple drift/boost system which makes the game very easy to pick up and play. As a result the game is great for people of all ages and also a good title for evenings with friends over who havent played the game before, as it wont take them long to master. A good example of this was a four-player game we had, in which 1st place to 8th place was separated by only 3 seconds, despite the fact two of the players had owned the game, whilst the other two were playing in only their third race. One of my biggest criticisms of racing games is usually the AI, whereby programmers choose to use very basic catch-up to keep races tight. On this game you can turn this off, which is brilliant because that ruins a lot of games in my opinion (Motorstorm being a prime example). The level and track designs are superb, with bright and vibrant colours keeping things interesting throughout. Characters and vehicles are based around classic Sega games and the presentation is superb throughout. In single player and two-player split-screen the game looks very impressive, with no drop in frame rate that Ive noticed. In four-player things are a little disappointing however, as the frame rate suffers pretty much from the start. Given the power of modern consoles and that this game was always going to be a big seller on the basis of the multi-player mode, I find it slightly surprising that more time wasnt put into either optimising what they had or just going with something a little bit simpler visually to keep things nice and smooth (its not as if were dealing with an inexperienced development team here either). However, although it doesnt look great in four-player it is still very playable, its just something that I thought was worth mentioning. Another minor gripe is the character and level select system, whereby you have to exit out of each track to load the level/character select screen each time you want to change anything. This might not seem such a terrible thing, but the load times arent fantastic and it wouldve been nice to have been able to quickly make those sorts of changes at the end of a race rather than loading up a new select screen. However, minor gripes aside this is decent kart racer and one which Im going to enjoy playing a lot more over the coming months. There's plenty to do on the game with a huge number of modes and challenges, as well as a vast array of characters and levels to unlock; the game represents fantastic value for money. Its not the 5 out of 5 that it could (and probably should) have been, but certainly a solid 4 out of 5 and well worth picking up given the price.

This game is a Mario Kart style game. Although it performs a bit of its own twist artistically because it includes characters from Sega, and not only characters like Sonic but also characters from Shenmue for example. Many have tried to surpass Mario Kart , and failed , But Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing puts up a decent fight. First of all , Graphically speaking , the game is wonderful , a crazy level design with Loops and twists on comic like environments, the characters are well designed and the animations are also up to par. Unfortunately there are some frame drops , which may kill the speed feel of the game, But nothing that should be taken too seriously. Sound wise the game delivers equally. Crazy fast paced sounds which create a frantic pace. On the Gameplay side , which may just be the strongest point in the game , It is the most fun Kart game out there on HD at the moment. It has a great feel to it , Drifts and Boosts provide a frantic and fun Gameplay. Overall this game delivers good hours of fun. If you love Mario Kart racing , you should definitely pick this one up. The only draw back is really the sluggish frame-rate at times , but not enough to kill the fun. 4.2/5

This game is brilliant! Imagine Mario Kart with Sonic and Sega characters. That is Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing. It mixes high speed with weapons so you always have to be ready. It has a Wonderful online multiplayer system which can also be played in Split-screen. There is a huge cast of characters and a lot to do. There is a cool mission mode seeing you take on many different tasks and there is the Championship race which takes you through 4 cups which covers the games stages. You buy any locked gear at a shop. To buy these things, you need points, and to get points, you need to race well. Overall, this is a amazing game that should not be missed, if you are looking for something like Mario kart which is just as good, then get this. You will not be disapointed!
