Decided to buy this after seeing Fantasia live and it does not disappoint. To get both films together for such an excellent price adds to the pleasure. The imagination of Walt Disney at the time was way ahead of it's time and playing this through my soundbar makes you believe the orchestra is in your living room. Cannot recommend highly enough.
A great film that our ballet mad daughter loves dancing to.
Once again Disney have released an excellent Blu-ray set. The picture quality is simply brilliant on both these films, and it breathes new life into these classic movies. The extras are pretty good, including commentaries, making of and a few shorts. If you have access to Blu-ray Live then there is the Disney Virtual Vault which includes all the extras found on the DVD sets previously released. If you're a fan of these movies, Disney or animation then these are for you, worth the upgrade for picture and sound.
Words alone cannot express the wonderful rush you get watching these DVDs from the hands of Disney - it's a chidhood trip. If like me you grew up with the original Fantasia, you should agree. Buying this DVD set of old and modern technology allows you to take leave of your senses and forget that the original was not only hand drawn frame by frame and is over 50 years old, but now it's available in high definition in sight and sound.
I have wanted fantasia since I saw it in the cinema many years ago.It is wonderful (both the music and the film).While I was watching it for the umteenth time my daughter came in with her 3 year old daughter.She was fascinated!!!! I did not let her watch "night on a bare mountain" because that is SO well done.I think it would have scared the pants off her.Her favourite though was "the sorceror's apprentice" She is a big fan of mickey mouse.I myself loved both "fantasias" very much.I would recommend them to anyone no matter what age.
Having watched Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 on Laserdisc, I thought they couldn't get better. But they have, Blu-ray and restoration has brought a level of brilliance to the screen and clarity to the sound that is truly amazing. These are items that should form a part of everyone's Blu-ray collection especially if a prime consideration is family viewing.
