BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (Limited Edition)

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

If there's one thing Arc System Works can do, it's great 2D fighting games. BlazBlue: Continuum Shift brings back the roster of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger for an amazing sequel. As before, each character has a unique fighting style, requiring some training to use everything properly in combat. Fortunately, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift includes a handy tutorial section to learn each character's basics, and even some simple combos. The combat itself is fact-paced, supported by the amazing rock and metal soundtrack. The story picks up where the previous game left off, and is easier to follow this time around, with more attention paid to character development, when compared to its predecessor. The online multiplayer is near-perfect, with lag and frame-rate losses being extremely rare. The limited edition includes some handy character move cards and an art book, which many people will appreciate greatly. If you're a fan of 2D fighting games and/or anime-style characters, you won't be disappointed if you buy this.

Great fighter for old school fighter fans!

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is a must buy for fans of the fighting game genre! The gameplay is varied as every character is very unique unlike many other fighting games. The functionality and GUI is rock solid as the game is developed by the one and only Arcsys! The bgm/music can get tedious for me personally as it is mostly a collection of heavy metal type of tracks, would be nice to fit in a few mellow tracks. Another plus is the Japanese anime style so if you're a fan of the Japanese culture and style you won't get disappointed. You get moves cards with the limited edition which are helpful in the beginning if you can't remember the moves and don't want to keep pausing the game just to check the command list. This game is recommended for the PS3 or XBOX360 if you have an arcade stick, if not then the XBOX360 d-pad will probably only get in the way.

This is one of the games you don't want to miss out on if you're into 2D fighting. It has good features like soundtrack, great gameplay and neat characters, not to mention a good story which is hard to find in fighting games. A game you'll enjoy for sure don't miss out.

Excellent

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is as fast paced and more balanced then its predecessor. The fighting is great, and after Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV AE, both of which favor a good defensive play, the change of pace and the need to constantly try to put yourself in the offensive is a welcome change. If anyone has not played this game and is a fan of fighter games. This game coming from the creators of Guilty Gears franchise is a strong recommendation and is a bargain.

An excellent 2D fighter for the new generation consoles. Many hardcore old school fans may not appreciate it as much as the classics, but BlazBlue is definitely a solid fighter, with great story, characters, fast and fluent gameplay, amazing soundtrack, and active online community. Recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy a game which requires skill.

Blazblue CS is an excellent choice for the fans of 2D fighting games. The fighters are very different : story, powers, strengh and weakness... The fights are fluid and nervous.

Great Game Not So Great At Honouring Pre-order Bonuses

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

A great port to the PS3 true to the arcade version. The anime style graphics are beautifully rendered and the in-game movement is very fluid. The new modes that allow the player to train and practice the moves and fighting styles is a welcome bonus as the button combinations are not as simple as many other fighting games. The fighting style is pretty much the same as it was in Calamity Trigger with a few modifications to the gameplay mechanics such as guard bonuses etc. The introduction of exclusive new characters not featured in the original arcade version is a great bonus with more becoming available in the future as DLC. It is a shame, however that some of us that pre-ordered the game didn't get the pre-order bonus character that was advertised by Zavvi (and every other site selling the UK version of the game) had I know that Zavvi was this incompetent then I'd have bought my game elsewhere. Love the game, hate the lack of my pre-order bonus.
