The Invictus was once the most formidable warship ever built by the Empire—an awe-inspiring eight kilometers wide, crewed by 300,000, equipped with a jump drive, and bristling with weapons. Lost in battle after a catastrophic jump-drive malfunction, it vanished for over a thousand years, endlessly jumping through space. When it was finally discovered by the Anacreons, a Foundation team led by Salvor Hardin and Hugo Crast was forced to salvage it. The Foundation ultimately seized control, reverse-engineering its technology to create their whisper ships. The Invictus met its final end in orbit over Terminus, destroyed when Cleon XVII launched a decisive attack on the Foundation.
