AMAZING

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Let's get the bad out of the way first. The storyline isn't anywhere near as gripping as the Metal Gear Solid games. The gameplay is so awesome that it doesn't matter. This is perhaps the best game made by Platinum, and that's saying a lot because they made Bayonetta. The fighting mechanics are simple enough for anyone not used to hack-n-slash games to jump right in, but there's a lot of layers of strategy too. Difficulty is fair and very scalable - hard mode really is hard. The parry system feels good and the "cut anything" mechanic is awesome. It all runs at a very high framerate (nearly always 60fps), which is amazing considering how good the game looks. The music is very different to the MGS games but it works to the over-the-top style of Rising. Load times are kept very short, probably due to the modest 2GB install. It's pretty much a flawless game - I don't consider the lackluster storyline an issue at all. The MGS games were about the story and the game, this one's pure game. It's the sort of game that reminds me why I even enjoy playing them.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance review

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I was looking forward to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Includes Cyborg Ninja DLC), but hesitated to buy it because I knew this was a spin-off. The graphics are amazing, I think it shows that the current gen consoles can still do wonders. The music is really nice but the studio had a different approach to the previous games, more action less suspense. I did like it though, it makes you want to press the buttons as quickly as possible to defeat your foes. There is so much fun and innovation in the gameplay mechanics and it's fully action packed. I will probably play it again after half a year in a harder mode. Generally it makes you want to play it and try to get perfect scores in every fight. What I didn't find as good as I would have liked was the plot, it couldn't live up to the legend of the Metal Gear name. Enjoy the game!

MGS

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Includes Cyborg Ninja DLC) is surreal. Every MGS fanatic wanted so hard to play as Raiden in his cyborg form, and I'm pretty sure one will get his money's worth in this hack n slash beauty. The only negative comment is the length of the game, not even exceeding 5 hours, but rest assured one will enjoy tearing apart cyborgs and gekkos, not to the mention the hard bosses it has.

Metal gear revengeance

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Includes Cyborg Ninja DLC) is graphically top notch, but I found the camera angles very restrictive, especially during intense boss battles. I would recommend this game.

Platinum Quality

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Platinum Games delivers its trademark quirky and fine-tuned game play with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Includes Cyborg Ninja DLC). While I am not a big fan of the Metal Gear series, this does capture the atmosphere of it at least when it comes to story and dialogue. It strikes an odd balance of hack and slash with stealth, but obviously favours the former (while somehow encouraging the latter). As with every Platinum game, the real appeal lies in mastering every section of the game. After you've beaten the main story, you still have more than half the content left to unlock and S rank. If you're a fan of 100% completion, MGR will give you a run for its money. Oh, and you can wear a mariachi costume.

Senri reviews: MGS:Rising

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Metal Gear has always been a major series of mine. The series has been one amazing experiance to the next. From mind blowing plot twists and amazing character designs and MGSR (Metal Gear Rising) is no different. The game has you playing as Raiden, the character introduced in MGS2 who originally was unliked by many fans. But since Hideo Kojima creator of the series changed Raiden into the legendary cyborg ninja he is today he has become an amazing addition to the cast of Metal Gear. The game controls amazingly, responsive and fluent, with the amazing Blade mode. You can slice up your enemies however you want, with Zandatsu! The name alone is bloody epic, let alone how it adds to the games environment. One of the truly best things about this game though? Is the soundtrack, Hideo has truly outdone himself, especially during the boss fights. Specifically the fight with the game's main antagonist. The appearance of a new Metal Gear was immense and the fight was amazing. In short, even though this review was short, there really is no true way to sum up Metal Gear Rising. It's truly a unique, amazing, character driven, cyborg ninja, extravaganza. Truly amazing, 20/10, 100 stars, everything!

Excellent game

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

Kojima teaming up with Platinum Games was a truly interesting and original idea. Some fans of the Metal Gear Solid series might be put off at first, as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is dissimilar to any other Metal Gear games of the past. The only thing that is reminiscent of the previous games is the art style. So if you're looking for a game with story depth, character development and the solid stealth game play of a Metal Gear Solid game, you won't find that here. But judge the game as its completely own game, and you just might find something special.

Fantastic metal gear game; totally unlike solid - but that is the point! Little bit OTT at times, but which MG game isn't? Buy it - you won't be disappointed!
