Metro 2033 is a FPS with excellent atmosphere and environment. The game is mostly played in the metro stations and tunnels of a post-apocalyptic Moscow, which adds a lot to the game experience. The game suffers from minor bugs, which may cause some frustration at times, but not enough to make you want to leave the game. I personally found it addictive and I enjoyed playing it a lot. I played it to the end, obtained the DLC (Ranger pack) and started over again.
This game still perplexes me to this day. I played it, i hated it, I played it some more, then i stopped...2 months later, i want to play it again.. Let me explain: The things that annoyed me; The gunplay! There was something very annoying about launching entire clips of ammo into enemies to no avail. But despite this deft awful gunplay, the graphics, the cinematics and atmostphere were incredible, even spine tingling at times! admit it, there IS something scary about turning around, turning a flashlight on to find you are shining your lamp through a ghost (you see his silhouette!) I recommend renting first, since this game has many polarised views. I also hear there are loads of glitches, although I have had none myself! I found the game more enjoyable when you load the guns with the "better" ammo, the shiny gold military grade stuff. Its the currency of the game too (weird idea yeah?) but boy is it powerful! Conclusion: - If you are after theme, story, visuals more than gameplay...A massive yes. -If you are after a decent FPS game which adds the Call of Duty Gun play experience to a story, then no simply because the engine is no way near as polished as the CoD Games have become. -Rent or Borrow from a friend First if unsure!
unique and very atmospheric. hard at the end tho
