L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Having previously played LA Noire when it was originally released on consoles, I knew roughly what to expect with the PC release, but what is new is well worth the wait for. As this is the complete edition you get the standard game as per the consoles, plus all the DLC that was made available following it's release. That means 5 extra cases (two traffic, one ad-vice and two arson), as well as the badge collection challenge and the extra suits that enhance your in game abilities. This alone would warrant a purchase, even if you've previously completed the standard game previously as the extra cases are well worth playing. But with PC comes two major benefits; enhanced graphics and the ability to play with keyboard & mouse (controllers can be used, but are purely optional) With a good graphics card and a decent amount of RAM you get graphics well in advance of the HD offerings on PS3 or Xbox 360 (I played off a Nvidia GTX 460 1GB and 4GB of DDR3 RAM and had the game runnings smoothly on 1600*1200 with full settings turned on). Whilst not optimised for DX11, this support may come in time. Control wise, anyone who's played GTA 3 onwards would be used to the control scheme, with the added advantage of more accurate aiming with the mouse. All in all I would whole heartedly recommended this to anyone at all interested in detective games, or just fans of rockstar games in general.
