L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

L.A. Noire is fantastic. Not only is it set in a romantic, meticulously recreated city of Angels, which is stunning and absolutely huge, it would take you about an hour of solid driving just to get to the other end of the map, not only that, but it sports a great story line, about 20 hours long or 30 if you try to beat all the cases with a 5 star rating. The facial animations and animations in general are excellent and the most lifelike you'll see in a current gen game, the voice actors, many of whom were straight of the Mad Men set did a great job. The game play is smooth, composed of driving to your destination through the open world city, investigating crime scenes and interrogating suspects. All the aspects are done well and make you keep playing well beyond midnight. You won't find a GTA 4 here though - you can't shoot random civilians or hit them with your car, most of the time. There aren't many side quests or activities waiting for you after the lengthy campaign, but still, it's completely worth the price of admission.

great game.

I bought the complete edition of L.A. Noire to skip buying all the dlc separately. Facial animations in this game look very realistic. I would recommend this game to all detective story fans. Captures the '40s atmosphere of films like LA Confidential, Black Dahlia, and Hollywoodland.

Excellent Interactive TV Series

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Undoubtedly an excellent and 'one of kind' game. You can see that in its core essence it's a quest. But so masterfully and skillfully developed, it does not feel like one! Some may say that the game lacks action sometimes, but this has been fully compensated by a compelling story and very engaging and believable atmosphere of late 40s LA. The unique motion capture technology, which transferred real peoples' acting into the 3D world is truly astonishing - nothing like you have seen before. The complete version is quite long and will keep you entertained for many nights. So after you complete the game you have the feeling that you have just finished watching whole season of an excellent detective series. I want to point out again how good the story and its delivery are! It is too far fetched to compare the games with The Wire, The Sopranos or other top class tv dramas. The characters' behavior, their motivations and the situations they find themselves in are very layered and thought-provoking. This is even more precious, since games so far have been known mostly for thier simplistic approach to the plot issues, comparing to the second rate action b-movies at best!

This is one of the best games ever! It has got great soundtrack from famous artists, fantastic graphics and one of the best story in the history of games. The complete edition is giving you a lot of extra content apart from the main story, so buy it!

L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Overall, this is a well-made and very fun game. It's not like Grand Theft Auto as it claims, but it's still about as good. I recommend you don't try to go for the platinum trophies on this game, because you will get bored very quickly, as it's a big ask. I still highly recommend this game though. It's really good fun.

Long and fun, maybe a little repetitive... but really enjoyable.

Brilliant but Back-Fired

Perfect. Unfortunately, the game was so addictive that since giving it to my boyfriend, he's barely spoken to me! Apparently it's heavily story-based and therefore a good choice for gamers who enjoyed Heavy Rain.

From start to finish, LA Noire feels like a film – LA Confidential, in fact, along with any similarly hard-boiled example of film noir adapted from stories by the likes of Chandler and Hammett. Set in a gloriously convincing depiction of Los Angeles in 1947 (which is much more attractive than today's LA), it casts you as Cole Phelps, returning war hero turned cop. LA Noire's gameplay capitalises cleverly on this breakthrough technology. Essentially, it sees you playing through Phelps's working life, doing what you imagine a real-life LAPD detective would have done in 1947. Thus, you have to drive to crime scenes, root around for clues and examine bodies, then follow the resulting leads. The game's pacing and narrative arc impress as much as its believability. The bog-standard detective work, fun though it is, is punctuated judiciously by action sequences including car chases, pursuing suspects on foot, climbing around inaccessible areas, puzzle-solving and, of course, shoot-outs. It's a great game
