I love this Doctor Who: U.N.I.T Files box set. First up the Jon Pertwee adventure, Invasion of the Dinosaurs. I know the dinosaurs look very ropey but the story is very enjoyable and entertaining, and it's not too long at 6 episodes. Next up the Tom Baker adventure - The Android Invasion. A great script by Terry Nation, creator of the Daleks. This 4 parter is a great little story and sees the return of Sgt. Benton and one of my favourite companions of the Tom Baker era, Harry.

This contains two stories. One is Jon Pertwee as the Doctor and the other is Tom Baker. The Jon Pertwee story - Invasion of the Dinosaurs - is infamous because of the poorly animated dinosaurs. And yes they are silly but the story itself is very interesting. As usual there are brilliant extras, including the attempts to re-colour episode one which only exists in black and white (due to being lost from BBC files in the 1970s). The other story - Android Invasion - is written by Terry Nation of Dalek fame. It is perhaps the stonger of the two stories with some creepy situations going on in the first episode. This story comes from the time when Philip Hinchcliffe was producer which many fans regard as part of the "golden time" for classic Doctor Who stories. If you're a fan there's lots to enjoy.

Well, here are two classic stories from a time when 'Doctor Who' relied on the conviction of the team making it rather than big budgets and state-of-the-art CGI. In 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs', the Doctor (the inimitable Jon Pertwee) and Sarah Jane (the much missed Elisabeth Sladen) return to London but find the streets deserted except for their UNIT colleagues and an infestation of dinosaurs that appear and disappear like magic. The Doctor is accused of masterminding the monster invasion while Sarah Jane is kidnapped and wakes to be told that she is now among a group of colonists en route to a New Earth. As the mystery unfolds, the Doctor uncovers a monstrous and ruthless scheme called Operation Golden Age... The regular cast are on top form in this adventure, alongside guest stars Martin Jarvis and Peter Miles (who later played Dalek-creator Davros' right-hand thug Nyder). While the special effects leave much to be desired by modern standards, viewers who are prepared to suspend their disbelief a little will find this a rewarding and breathtaking story from the Golden Age of 'Doctor Who'. In 'The Android Invasion', the Tardis lands near a deserted village which Sarah Jane recognises as Devesham where she once reported on a new space project. But the village isn't deserted for long: first the travellers are attacked by strange white-suited figures, and then a truckload of residents arrive, take up their places and start to behave as though nothing were amiss. The Doctor's (Tom Baker) investigation at the nearby project reveals a brilliant and subtle alien plan to invade Earth in a way that no one will notice until it's too late. This story has stood the test of time well, because it relies on a driving storyline and excellent performances rather than outmoded special effects.

Excellent set, well worth the money, cheaper than anyway else.

It's so good to see the old series of Doctor Who: U.N.I.T Files - wobbly sets included! It really brought back memories.

Excellent work by the BBC team again - great quality on two fun stories. Great to see the lovely Lis Sladen in action again.
