I'll put it in one simple sentence. NHL 13 is the best hockey game I played so far.

I recommend NHL 13 to anyone.

NHL 13 on ps3 is again a little closer to real ice hockey. It's the best NHL in recent years.

NHL 13 is a perfect game.

NHL13 looks stunning, sounds stunning and envelops you in the atmosphere of a hockey game at the highest level. At the same time the game features absolutely no way of customising the controls. True - there are existing pre-sets which players can alternate between. Unfortunately they are quite unintuitive and all suffer from the same illness - They all make the game almost unplayable. A few further notes - it is almost impossible to pick up the puck upon icing, which means that every time the game stops, you will be forced into defence. This will happen quite often as your goalie will constantly keep the puck for himself, not giving you enough time to send it forward. This is not the case with the opponent goalie, who (contrary to practice from previous NHL games) will pass the puck to a team mate the millisecond they receive it. The highly advertised new skating mechanics are barely noticeable and in reality, moving with and without the puck, does not feel any different than it did before. I cannot comment on the various game modes as my patience was only enough for the mere exhibition matches. Other thoughts - I really hope that controls are customisable at least for Xbox owners. In controls aspect NHL13 is on the bottom of my chart, ranking lowest of roughly 20 PS3 games, including sports titles, that I have played.
