A favourite of mine for the depth and honesty of a what a post apocalyptic world could be like, as excellent as the book is but in its own way. The steelbook edition looks fantastic and the sparse artwork is a great representation of the movies style.

The film is a quite dark and melancholy movie depicting the journey of a father and his young son from their home in the middle of the US to the coast after the end of civilization. What exactly happened is not the Topic of this movie, so the end of the world is not shown. The planet is mostly in ashes with hardly any plant and basically no animal life. The vast majority of humans is dead. The steelbook is well made and contains an English disc version (no other dubbing languages, no other language subtitles).

I already owned this movie on blu ray but decided to buy the steelbook because it is one of my favourite movies. If you're a fan of the post apocalyptic sci fi genre then you'll love this move. But be warned, it's not an "action" movie per se; instead it deals with the very real issues of how much of our humanity would we lose when civilisation has collapsed. Or, perhaps more to the point, how much of our humanity we can afford to lose before we become no more than savages. It really did make me think about what I would do in order to survive and the answer was not very pleasant. I suspect the answer would be the same for most of us if it comes to life or death; we'd do just about anything. There's a saying that society is only nine meals away from chaos and collapse. Based on that rating this movie is a full three banquets ahead of those nine meals. Watch it and be mesmerised, especially the scene in the house when they are nearly discovered. You'll know what I mean when you see it - truly powerful stuff. By the way, the steelbook itself is a lovely design, very understated, just like the movie itself, and a worthy addition to any movie buffs collection.

This film is rich, deep and nuanced! Superb acting and a very cool steelbook case! Very much worth checking out and I am so glad that I purchased!

Nice little Steelbook at a decent price. Movie is good too (if a little depressing!) Would recommend watching before you buy as it's not everyone's cup of tea!
