'Whiplash' is one of my all-time favourite movies ever made, without question or pause. Watching it in the cinema left me feeling breathless, exhausted, giddy, light-headed, my heart pounding in my chest, and my legs knackered from having drummed them furiously in time with the triumphant final 10 minutes. It is one of those movies that is as close to perfect as a movie can possibly be. (And if the Oscars were any proper measure of quality (which they're not), 'Whiplash' would have won Best Picture. Not that I don't love 'Birdman', mind you...it's just not AS awesome as 'Whiplash'.) So when I saw that Zavvi had this gorgeous steelbook edition of the Blu-ray of the film, I patiently waited and saved my money until I had enough to buy it, because have you SEEN this cover?! It's just so PRETTY! Once I ordered it, it promptly arrived at my door about 3 days later, in perfect condition. It's black and gold and shiny, and the title on the cover is embossed, and it's a good thing Gollum isn't around, because it truly is PREEECIOUSSSSSSSS... =))

This review is specifically for the Steelbook casing of Whiplash, the movie itself goes without saying that it is a masterpiece of cinematic work. So it came in the post and I was quite excited having seen the artwork on Zavvi, looked nice enough however it seemed to be lower quality than the photo on the website, which I guess is to be expected but I was just hoping for a little more. It also scratches fairly easy because of the gloss finish which is a shame really. Overall, I'd recommend it only if you really want a special version of this film. Handle it delicately.

A truly fantastic film with outstanding acting and direction. The quality of the steelbook is very good as well and arrived in perfect condition.

Not a bad film with superb acting from the leads. Became a bit fed up with the first half and the silly over the top aggression. Warmed up in the second half with its twists and turns. I did punch the air at the end!

Really like the steelbook version of this as the cover is really nice and minimal, which is pretty cool. The film itself is probably one of the best films I've seen all year, and perhaps on a second watch could work its way into my top films ever. Definitely worth watching, this film has a lot to say!
