Im nit a huge fan of steelbooks, have very few but had to have this as I love the film and the design is amazing. Wont open it, looks great on display, real show piece. Shame Id have to open it and remove the card to display the Ming side though.
classic film from the 80s that looks great in 4k. There is some grain on some scenes but seems clean on others. The film looks really bright and colourful and has never looked better. The steelbook is also a lot nicer than the previous boring one that has been available for a few years with just the logo on the front.
Excellence to 4 k transfer, and beautiful steelbook
This is the best version I have seen, fantastic picture and sound
As expected, Studio Canal+ did a top-notch job on it's 4K restroration for this intergalactic gem of campery. The sets, costumes & even the wobbly FX work have never looked more colourful & Queen's legendary music becomes the anthem is deserves with the sound at an all-time high. The steelbook is a terrific design that keeps in tone with the movie & takes a proud place among my other 4K collectables. The special features however may need an all-nighter to fully enjoy! Well done again to Zavvi on a spotless delivery :)
I own the dvd release the Blu-ray release with a 5.1 sound track. unless the sound track is released in Dolby Atmos or in 7.1 i cant see the point in spending the extra money i really can't see how the picture is gong to be any better than the 2D Blu-ray version from a 1980 negative. There comes a point when you can only improve a old negative of a movie so far. After buying the 4k Robocop movie i felt pritty ripped off to be honest i even set up 2 Sony TVs same model same settings same soundbar same Blu-ray players & for some reason praps someone can tell me why but the 2D Blu-ray version is better in quality.. So i can see the same thing happening with Flash Gordon. It would have been good if they made a 2nd Movie but not a remake see if you can spot Robbie Caltrain in this Flash Gordon move. Im not saying not to buy the movie if you don't own it in another format then yes why not its a classic with one of the best movie sound tracks of all time & a lot of the cast from the Star wars movies in it i love the movie its great fun with some great classic 80s humour & lets not forget Brian Blessed ((( Gordon's alive line ))) which he still does at conventions a real loud legend.. Ive given this movie a 4/5 star rating mainly due to everyone should own this classic in some form or another praps Zavvi could add in the listing of this movie what sound tracks & languages will be on the 4K disc.
