As every Star Wars fan will be aware, The Empire Strikes Back has been repeatedly voted as the BEST film in the entire saga. After the happy ending of A New Hope, when good triumphs over evil and everyone celebrates, the baddies are out for payback! The resulting film is dark in places, harrowing and emotive, with our heroes on the run from a merciless Empire set to run the rebellion into the ground. But, you already knew that... Given that the film is so well known, I'm going to talk about the steelbook itself. Now, given most Star Wars fans have several copies of the films already, these 4K steelbook editions needed to be something special. All of the other films have amazing looking steelbooks, using the final theatrical posters for the artwork - clearly Zavvi had heard the criticism of the recently released episode 7/8/9 steelbook artwork. So why, in the name of the force, does the steelbook for The Empire Strikes back have such a lacklustre cover?! Yes, this was the cover of the soundtrack album at the time but, compared to the other steelbook artwork, this looks really half-assed! The theatrical poster for Empire was stunning, so why not use that? Really strange decision as it looks completely out of place with the others. Aside from that, the usual special features are included and those who picked up the blu-ray 6 film set will be familiar with those. To summarise, great film, the expected amazing sound and picture quality, lacklustre steelbook artwork.

The upscale to 4k makes the movie so much more appealing.

Amazing quality movie and sound zavvi exclusive steelbook first class, 40 year old movie brought bang up to date in glorious 4K , a collectors dream , thanks zavvi highly recommend to everyone

Since Disney pulled out of showing the 4k version in the cinema, his is the next best thing this year.... The picture quality is noticeably better than Disney+ version and the Dolby atmos sound is phenomenal, even in the opening scenes with the protocol droids, you can hear it whizz through space through different speakers for each shot. I understand everyone's frustration with choice of covers, but this was still a teaser poster for ESB...just not a classic character one. But if you line them all up, this one lands right in the middle of all 9 movies and after all it was the best, so it deserves to stand out!

Awesome steelbook. Love the cover art, despite most people's hatred for it. It is the original cinema poster.

Great steelbook great quality for an excellent film

Considered by many fas as the best in the Original Trilogy series, this new 4K BluRay edition offers an astounding presentation of luminous, high resolution Ultra-HD video, and room-shaking soundtrack. A keeper for anyone's collection!

Great looking Steelbook with beautiful artwork, a great addition to any collection and definitely does he classic film justin. The 4K picture quality is excellent and sounds great too!

Whilst the image used for the front of this steelbook is from an original 'teaser' poster, unfortunately it just doesn't fit in with the rest of the collection. In addition, the print run appears to have been blighted with a production fault resulting in horizontal scratches across the front of the steelbook (about 1/4 of the way down from the top), which is more visible on some than others (in my case, I could only see them when holding the steelbook at a certain angle to the light). As a result, I have now returned my copy for a refund and have reluctantly decided not to continue with this particular collection (I already own the Skywalker Saga Boxset, so have all of the films on 4K UHD anyway).
