The Thief of Bagdad

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

Although this film as made a few decades ago, it still retains its magic. It won multiple Oscars and it is , for me, on a par with The Wizard of Oz. It is a wonderful tale from the Arabian Nights featuring a young boy, a Genie, an evil Grand Vizier Jaffar, a princess , a dungeon, flying carpets, and , of course, a hero. It has some stunning special effects and makes for simply captivating viewing. Children from the ages of 7 years onwards , in my opinion, will love this film. I bought it for my friend's children for Christmas and I know they will love it. I loved watching it as a child and to be honest, I still do ! Might buy one for myself, why not? If you are contemplating buying this film make sure you buy the one featuring Sabu, who was the first Indian actor to attain star status in Hollywood, I believe, and Conrad Veidt. Happy family viewing.
