I never played Halo on the original Xbox and it's a great news to find it again. The HD Remix is great and it's a pleasure to play the game.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is simply, an amazing game! You will remember this game for years to come! Although it may look negative for me to say it, the most amazing thing about this game is its soundtrack. I highly recommend any Halo fans buy it.
On starting Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary I wasn't blown away by the opening main screen, but what came next amazed me. My panic about 343 taking over from Bungie had gone within 2 mins of gameplay. Updated graphics make it look more visceral and realistic and the plasma grenade explosion was beautiful, fiery blue arcs from the bang made it look realistic. I was really taken aback by the Kinect features though as I had not read about any of them. Saying commands like 'Reload' and watching the Chief do as you instructed without hitting a button was a massive WOW! That coupled with a 3D option for those lucky enough with a 3D tv was also a nice touch as is the option to switch back to the old graphics.
If you remember the original Halo this will bring back some great memories; if not it's still a great game. The graphics are good, nothing ground breaking but I like the ability to switch between original and new graphics - what a difference. The multiplayer uses Reach, but some original maps too. Again, what memories! All in all, this has revitalised a classic and well worth a purchase. Enjoy.
Back when the first Halo game came out on the original Xbox, I didn't really get a chance to play it. Now forward 10 years and my girlfriends bought me a shiny new Xbox and Halo and OH MY! The Gameplay is exactly the same. Obviously they have improved things from the original game, but the essence of the original is still there. The driving is still as difficult to master as it was 10 years ago, but once you have it, it brings more to the game. I personally will not be playing any other game until I've completed it and got to know what all the fuss was about. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.
Excellent game and good value.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is a very well made remake of a true classic. Revisiting the ringworld with the upgraded graphics is a fun experience and the ability to switch back to the classic graphics is a very neat function. If you don't like Halo or FPS in general this game is unlikely to change your mind but for those who loved the original or want to see what the fuss is about, this game is well worth a try.
I played this game on the original xbox and it was a great FPS. So I was intrigued to learn about this release. After Capcom's damp squib graphical updates of Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica I was not expecting much. How wrong I was. You get the original game and it still plays well after all these years but with the graphics of Halo Reach. A lot of the time I would stop playing and just look around to see how beautiful it looked. New feature includes terminals to find that give an interesting back story to the game and possible hints for Halo 4. Also you get skulls to change the game play and finding them also adds a new element to the game play. You can also play the campaign co-op with a friend which I did as well. Lastly you get a new firefight match with marines and some new multiplayer maps. All in all this is a superb update.
This game is classic halo but with the advancement of better graphics, a definate must for all halo fans
