Oscar Nominations 2022: The Power Of The Dog Leads With 12

The Power Of The Dog is going to be powerful at the Oscars, with the western leading the way with 12 nominations.

It’s picked up nods for Best Picture, Best Director for Jane Campion, Best Actor for Benedict Cumberbatch, Best Supporting Actor for both Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Best Supporting Actress for Kirsten Dunst.

Other films nominated for Best Picture include Dune (which has a total of ten nominations), Belfast, and West Side Story. Nightmare Alley and Drive My Car were unexpected nominees in that category.

There were also plenty of surprising snubs – director Denis Villenueve missed out on Best Director for Dune, while frontrunners Lady Gaga and Jared Leto both didn’t receive acting nominations for House Of Gucci.
